Generative Expand in InDesign CC
File > Text to Image > Generative Expand
Another way to use the power of Adobe Firefly inside InDesign is to expand an image to fit any frame. You have to have an internet connection to use this feature and can open the sample file used in the above video by going to this page on helpx.adobe.com
With a graphic frame selected where the image fills the frame, the Text to Image panel pop-up menu will show ‘Generative Expand’ grayed out. As soon as you select a frame where the image does not fill the frame, it becomes the default. No prompt is required. 3 Variations will be generated.
Note: Like ‘Text to Image’ – generated images are saved into a folder in your Documents folder called ‘InDesign GenAI Assets’ – even if they are images that were based on an existing file in a Links folder (there doesn’t seem to be a way to control the destination of the newly generated images)
