Real-time drawing & editing

In the early days, you could only edit Illustrator art while in the ‘Outline’ view mode not in ‘Preview’ mode [and we had to walk to school, uphill, in the snow, both ways]. The ability to edit artwork in Preview has been nice, but while you were drawing/editing/moving, the artwork would only display in outlines.

  • Illustrator > Preferences [Mac], Edit > Preferences [Windows] – choose ‘Performance’ from the options down the left side, then simply turn on ‘Real-time Drawing and Editing’
  • this option will stayed turned on until you turn it off again, only leaving two questions; a) Why didn’t we get this until now? and b) Why isn’t it ‘on’ by default?
